It's time for another quilt, but I'm aiming for something easy. After much thinking (and staring at my fabric shelves) I decided on using 4-patch blocks.
And this is what I've come up with:
I've sewed up a pile of them, then for the focus fabric settled on this one:
Isn't it CUTE?? I think it's Alexander Henry's 'Onesies'. I've had it for a couple of years now, so it's about time I put it to good use. Don't you think?
Because this quilt is so easy, the top came together really, really quickly...
Hope to get quilting soon!

Sewing on the Go!
Yummy Hubby and I were lucky enough to get away in the early days of Eid for a little trip.
So off we went to visit Baby Brother and enjoy a change in the weather ...
strolls in the parks ...
not to mention a little bit of shopping ehheeeeeee!
And of course when I'm away from the sewing machine, I bring a little bag of hexies with me.
It was productive hexy week...
and when I got home I had enough ready to do this:
And the final product:
I'm ready for my next trip already, haha!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Red & Aqua
Presenting my first ever red and aqua quilt!
I enjoyed every minute of making this one. Even the pressing the seams open bit, haha!
It's been a while since I've made triangles - quarter square or even half square triangles. I used this really easy tutorial from over at Cluck Cluck Sew , only I added a border. I seem to have a thing for borders, although for me it's really just a lazy way of making my quilts a little bit bigger, hehehe.
I did get a little bit more adventurous with the quilting though, and I tried out a flower design. It didn't start so easy (and there was a fair amount of unpicking involved!) but I found my groove in the end. It's not perfect, but I love it all the same, hee.
And a picture of the back...
*happy*
Here's wishing everyone a great week :-)

Coming along
Yes, my Red and Aqua quilt is coming along pretty well...
Because I'm using half square triangles, I decided to press seams open to reduce some of the bulk.
It's quite a painstaking process, especially since I usually just press seams to one side. But I must say, the effort is worth it. I may be tempted to take the extra time to press seams open from now on...
My little kitty loves the top. She came in while I had it on the floor, took a whiff and decided to make herself comfortable on it.
I had to wait for her to finish napping before I could get to it again!
But I eventually did, and added a border on the outside of the top - it was a bit on the small side, so the top gave it just that bit more length and width.
Quilting next!

Well Wishes!
It's been almost a week now, but as they say, better late than never.
Besides, we celebrate for a month.
So, to all Moslems, I wish you a very happy and blessed Eid Mubarak!
I don't have any festive photos on hand at the moment, so you'll just have to make do with one of Milo... eheheheee.
Have a happy, safe and quilty week!

Red and Aqua
When I first became serious (well, serious-ish) about quilting, red and aqua colour combos were all the rage. I must have spent hours just ooh-ing and aaah-ing over beautiful red and aqua quilts all over the internet. Now years later I think it's about time I attempted my own red and aqua quilt.
So I took a peek at my stash (surprise, surprise, there're quite a few red and aquas there), then pulled some fabric off the shelves for a bit of auditioning and this is what I've settled on:
Ooh! That's a bit on the bright side isn't it? I called in Yummy Hubby for a second opinion and got a non-committal response. I suspect he thinks it's a bit bright too.
Milo didn't seem to mind though, ehehee.

You know what? I think I'm going to go for it. I've also got a pattern in mind. Wish me luck!
